Wind and water are elements that inspire me on the one hand, but frighten me on the other.
On the one hand, they are direct consequences of the powerful sun, but on the other, they are what makes life possible.
Life as we know it, at least.
Wind and water are also – strictly speaking – elements that can serve as sources
and stores of energy. Without any effects that would not be sustainable.
At least when viewed in our microcosm, because of course we also extract energy using rotors,
but until that has had a significant effect, we are facing completely different problems.
Certainly, some animals (and humans) are irritated by rotors and noise, but
as Hermann Hesse noted in Steppenwolf, ‘we have fallen out of nature and
are hanging in a void,’ and that is not going to change. The complete way back
would imply that we would have to renounce all the achievements of modernity and technology,
and we are no longer in a position to do so. However, we should
use the resulting freedom for something other than continuing to hunt our fellow human beings
and supposed rivals, fighting turf wars or waging wars of annihilation
against entire peoples or communities. The fact that
mathematics is now regarded as a formal science and is less practised by philosophers
may be a sign of the development towards a cold and spiritless world.
Yes, I think the storms are increasing. And although I am by no means inclined towards esoteric thoughts
(to put it as neutrally as possible), I consider this to be an indication
that ‘something is gradually happening’. There is now talk that the annual
devastating (pause for a moment and reflect on the etymology)
forest fires have a significant impact on the rising CO2 content of the atmosphere.
It's tipping! And instead of dealing with it together, despots are destroying people and the environment,
halls full of politicians are meeting with results reminiscent of ‘the elephant labours and gives birth to a mouse’.
In Germany, it is estimated that almost one in six people are employed in the public sector and related
service providers and companies. That is just under 15% of all employees. The estimated proportion
of pure pensioners (excluding retirees) in the working population (including retirees)
is around 7%. The crucial problem with our system is therefore not that
we have more and more pensioners, but that our administration is exploding. Just a side note.
In the past, such an approach could be called ‘lateral thinking’, but unfortunately this term has been hijacked
by drifters and those stuck in the past. But it doesn't matter what you call it; what matters is
that you deal with things that do not promise the greatest success. But who
is surprised: you were sawing off your own branch.
